Privacy Policy

Alloy Storage collects a small amount of personal information so we can quote, deliver, and support your storage. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it.

01 Who we are

This policy applies to Alloy Storage ("Alloy Storage", "we", "us", "our"), a container storage business operating from 151 Alloy Drive, Saint John, New Brunswick, and to the website at alloystorage.com and any landing pages we operate.

We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies to our commercial messages, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

"Personal information" means information about an identifiable individual. It does not include business contact information used solely to communicate with someone in relation to their employment or profession.

02 What we collect

Information you give us

  • Name, email address, and phone number submitted through our quote or contact forms.
  • Delivery address, postal code, and site details needed to quote or arrange delivery.
  • Details of what you plan to store, your preferred container size, and your timeline.
  • Billing and order information if you purchase a container, including your billing address.
  • Correspondence with us by phone, email, or social media.

Information collected automatically

  • IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system.
  • Pages viewed, time on page, referring URL, and the ad or search term that brought you here.
  • Cookie and similar identifiers, as described in section 5.

We do not store full payment card numbers. Card details are entered directly with our payment processor and are never held on our servers.

03 Why we collect it

We identify the purpose before or at the time we collect your information. We use it to:

  • Prepare and send quotes for container rental, purchase, delivery, and setup.
  • Confirm site access, ground conditions, and placement before installation.
  • Process orders, arrange delivery and pickup, and provide after-sale support.
  • Answer your questions and keep a record of what was discussed.
  • Send service messages about your order, delivery, or account.
  • Send marketing emails where you have consented (see section 11).
  • Understand how our website and advertising perform, so we can improve them.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, and meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

We do not use your personal information for a new purpose without your consent, unless the law requires or permits it.

04 Consent

By submitting a form, calling us, or placing an order, you consent to us collecting and using your information for the purposes described above. Where the information is sensitive or the purpose is not obvious, we ask for express consent.

You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer quote, deliver, or support your storage. To withdraw consent, contact us using the details in section 16.

05 Cookies and tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your cart, and measure how our pages and advertising perform.

  • Essential cookies — required for the site, cart, and checkout to function.
  • Analytics — Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, tells us which pages are used and where visitors leave.
  • Advertising — Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing tags let us measure which ads produce enquiries and show our ads to people who have visited this site. [ADD META / FACEBOOK PIXEL AND ANY OTHER AD TAGS YOU RUN.]

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site from working. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on, and manage ad personalisation in your Google account settings.

06 Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where it is needed to run our business, and only with parties bound to protect it:

  • Delivery and transport partners who move and place your container.
  • Payment processors who handle your transaction.
  • Our website host, email provider, and CRM or form software.
  • Analytics and advertising providers, as described in section 5.
  • Professional advisors such as accountants and lawyers, where necessary.
  • Law enforcement or regulators, where we are required or permitted by Canadian law.
  • A purchaser of our business, if we are ever sold or merged, subject to equivalent protection.

07 Storage outside Canada

Some of our service providers store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States. While your information is in another country it may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities of that country under its laws.

We use contractual and other means to require a comparable level of protection while your information is being processed by a third party on our behalf. If you would like more detail about our practices for transfers outside Canada, contact us using the details in section 16.

08 How we protect it

We protect personal information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across our website, restricted access to systems that hold customer records, password protection, and secure disposal of records we no longer need.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.

09 How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires.

  • Quote enquiries that do not convert — [e.g. 24 months] from your last contact with us.
  • Customer and order records — at least [e.g. 6 years], to meet Canada Revenue Agency record-keeping requirements.
  • Marketing consent records — kept for as long as CASL requires us to be able to prove consent.

When information is no longer required, we destroy, erase, or anonymise it.

10 Your rights

Under PIPEDA you may:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used and disclosed.
  • Ask for a copy of that information.
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Withdraw your consent to a particular use, subject to legal and contractual limits.
  • Ask us to stop sending marketing messages.

Write to us using the details in section 16. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity first. Access is free in most cases; if a request requires significant work we will tell you the cost before proceeding. In limited circumstances the law allows us to refuse access — if that happens we will explain why.

11 Marketing emails

We send commercial electronic messages only where we have your express consent, or where CASL permits it on the basis of an existing business relationship — for example if you have bought from us or made an enquiry within the periods CASL allows.

Every marketing message identifies Alloy Storage, gives our contact details, and includes a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe requests are actioned within 10 business days. You will still receive service messages about an active order or delivery.

12 Children

Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13 Other websites

Our site links to other websites, including our Facebook and Instagram pages and Google Maps. This policy does not cover those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit from ours.

14 Privacy breaches

If a breach of our security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and report the breach to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as soon as feasible, and keep a record of the breach as PIPEDA requires.

15 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our business, technology, or the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be posted here, and where appropriate we will notify you directly.
